Explore Tel Aviv

We love spending time in Tel Aviv. Below we share some of our favorite things to do.

Watch the sunset in Tel Aviv

Our favorite thing to do in Tel Aviv is watching the mesmerizing sunsets. The best spot for this is either walking on the beach promenade or sitting on the grass with the locals in Hayarkon Park. Don't forget to buy a bottle of delicious Israeli wine beforehand to enjoy during the sunset!

Stroll through Neve Tzedek

Strolling through the charming streets of Neve Tzedek is one of Frankie's favorite things to do in Tel Aviv. This neighborhood feels like a real oasis in the bustling city. The narrow streets are home to unique galleries, craft shops, and boutiques. Make sure to grab a coffee at the Dellal Bakery and admire the gardens and stone fountains at the Suzanne Dellal Center.

Explore Jaffa

This ancient port was founded more than 4,000 years ago and is said to be the world's oldest harbor still in use. We love the energy of this melting pot. You can experience how cultures meet and mix when you find yourself dining and dancing together with Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Buddhists. That's one reason why the cool kids consider it to be the most "happening" area in Tel Aviv. Remember to have a drink in one of its many funky cafes, visit the flea market, taste Israel's best Kebab at "Shawarma Bino" or take in the beautiful views of Tel Aviv from Jaffa Park. We love Jaffa and can never spend enough time exploring its old narrow stone streets.

Taste local flavors in Carmel Market

We love exploring the Carmel Market and the many flavors of Israel it has to offer. Come with an empty stomach and enjoy all the local fresh fruits, salted fish, cured meats, Middle Eastern fare, and freshly baked pastries. Wash it down with locally roasted coffee, fresh-pressed fruit, or glass of wine.

Treasure-hunting at Nahalat Binyamin Crafts Fair

This is where we purchased all our Christmas gifts. The market is held weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays. An excellent opportunity to buy souvenirs. All the products are one of a kind and handmade. Most of the artists sell their own art so make sure to ask them about the pieces. We love the authentic feeling and hope you get a chance to visit Nahalat Binyamin crafts fair.

Restaurants

We love the Israeli cuisine-below we share a few of our favorite restaurants

Our all-time favorites

Port Sa'id

A rustic, upbeat local spot for high-quality Isreali food. Perfect for a casual dinner.

Abraxas North

Try the cauliflower! Local celebrity chef Eyal Shani helms. One of Tel Aviv's most talked-about restaurants. The food here is innovative, smart and inspiring. We love their presentation!

Barbounia

Delicious seafood that is served with a great mezze. Great for trying a variety of local salads. If you are up for music and mingling, make sure to book at the bar. It is a local secret--you enter through a side door. If you prefer a relaxing dinner, stay on Barbounias terrace. Great for people watching.

Where to eat in Jaffa:

Dr. Shakshuka

Serves the best Shakshuka in Tel Aviv. Loved by locals and tourists.

Itsik Hagadol

Delicious salads and skewers in a noisy simple restaurant. A Tel Aviv institution.

Best local food: Falafel, Swarma, and Humus

HaKosem

Hakosem means “the magician”, so it’s no wonder they serve the best falafel in town!

Sabih Frishman / Falafel Frishman

The best Sabih in Town!

Hummus Caspi

Best hummus in Tel Aviv!

Upscale Dining: (ask your hotels to book)

Claro

The farm to table menu offers an innovative, modern twist on local favorites. Great vibe.

Shila

Delicious seafood. Make sure to order the crusty focaccia to plunge into dips and leave room for decadent desserts.

Kitchen Market

Kitchen Market is a contemporary chef restaurant located on the mezzanine floor of the Farmers Market at the Tel Aviv Seaport. We love its Mediterranean, superb food and beautiful presentation.

Manta Ray

Right on the Mediterranean Sea, this restaurant’s long veranda is a great place for fine dining while enjoying the stunning view. The specialty here is gourmet seafood.

Bars & clubs

Tel Aviv's nightlife is young, fun and upbeat. We encourage you to experience it for yourself! The "hot spots" keep transitioning and we trust our local friends advice whats the best place to go in July 2018:

Our favorite bars in TLV:

Anna LouLou - Amazing hidden bar in Jaffa, a place where Jews and Arabs dance together.

Spicehaus (Jaffa Perfume Company) -Creative “cocktail bar pharmacy”, the bartenders dress like pharmacists, and great cocktails are served in beaker bottles.

Time Out - Fun beach bar, great for sunset drinks

The Norman - Upscale Hotel Bar; Amazing cocktails

Rosa Parks Bar - Local hangout spot during the day; great for people watching

Our favorite clubs in TLV:

Clara – The biggest outdoor club in the city and always puts on an amazing party

Kulialma - Late night funky/hipster bar with electronic music

Sputnik - local, funky hipster club with electronic music and art exhibits

Explore Israel

If you have the time we encourage you to explore the many treasures Israel has to offer.

Jerusalem

Jerusalem is considered a holy city in the three major Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. According to the Bible, King David conquered the city from the Jebusites and established it as the capital of the united kingdom of Israel, and his son, King Solomon, commissioned the building of the First Temple.

Sea of Galilee

The beautiful Sea of Galilee, Israel’s largest freshwater lake, is where Jesus spent much of his ministry and performed some of his best-known miracles. You’ll visit the Church of Multiplication, where Jesus fed five thousand people fish and bread.

Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is the lowest point on Earth, with its salty water that allows you to float, and famous muds with healing properties.  We recommend that you stay a night or two at the relaxing Beresheet Hotel over Makhtesh Ramon. The views are breathtaking.

Caesarea

Caesarea is a magnificent site. It's a national park with amazing ancient harbor ruins, beautiful beaches, and impressive modern residences that sit side by side. Caesarea is originally an ancient Herodian port city located on Israel’s Mediterranean Coast about halfway between Tel Aviv and Haifa. The site has recently been restored to create one of Israel’s most attractive and fascinating archaeological sites.

Explore Jordan

One of our favorite trips ever was visiting Wadi Rum and Petra in Jordan. If you have the time we highly recommend that you to take 3 days (2 nights) to walk the ancient streets of Petra and sleep under the stars in Wadi Rum. Our travel agent, Russell, would be happy to help you plan an extraordinary adventure there.
